Geranium is a fragrant perennial native to South Africa, especially the Cape Provinces, where it grows naturally in well-drained, temperate soils. While wild geraniums exist in the region, most organically certified essential oil is cultivated from organic crops. The oil is steam distilled from the plant’s leaves and stems, and is rich in citronellol, geraniol, and linalool, compounds known for their balancing, floral-green character and broad skin-supportive benefits.
