What is Aufguss?
A typical Aufguss consists of 2–3 rounds, increasing in heat and intensity. Essential oils are added to water and ladled onto stones. The Saunameister wafts the steam with precise towel movements (Wedeln), directing waves of heat across participants. There may be complete silence. Or music. Or stories told through scent. No two sessions are alike, but all aim for the same alchemy: body softened by heat, mind anchored by breath, spirit stirred by ritual.
